Former President Jacob Zuma says he does not fear prison.

He was addressing the media in Johannesburg for the first time since his medical parole came to an end.

Zuma says he will continue to speak out against a system that seeks to suppress and undermine his rights. He adds that that he is correct in his resolve to fight such injustices and abuses of power.

“It remains a shock that a democratic state arrest and imprison its own citizen without a trial. This is something to be frowned upon. Being myself, this action made me to remember the old Apartheid days where people were arrested and kept in prison without a trial.” says Zuma.

The former president stressed that if it means he needs to be imprisoned for his beliefs, then so be it.
