The Wits University’s executive team and the current Student Representative Council (SRC) have reached a mutual agreement following nearly two weeks of protest action.

Students have been protesting over historical debt and students being prevented from registering for the 2023 academic year.

Both parties have agreed to enter a mediation process. Wits University spokesperson Shirona Patel says this is a constructive way forward.

She adds that the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs will now be working with the student body and management to arrange a time and appropriate terms for the process to commence.
