South Africa’s stance in the Russia-Ukraine conflict has come into question.
Following the Department of International Relations and Cooperation’s(Dirco) statement on the situation, it appeared that President Cyril Ramaphosa’s sentiments on the conflict contradicted that of the ministry.
Ramaphosa said that he was unhappy about Dirco’s statement calling for Russia to withdraw its soldiers from Ukraine. In response, Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele noted that South Africa will always be opposed to any conflict that leads to loss of life.
