The deadline is looming for Western Cape parents to confirm the final choice of school for their child for next year.
The provincial Education Department warns that if this is not done by this evening it will result in the child being automatically placed in the first successful school based on the order of their preference submitted on the website.
With this latest step, some 20 000 spots are expected to open, allowing learners who have been unsuccessful in their application to be placed. The WCED says 50 percent of these are learners in Grade 8.
Every year the WCED is confronted with the issue of unplaced learners. It’s hoped that this process will help to alleviate the issue.
