A plea has been made for Western Cape communities to safeguard their schools during the holiday period.

Education MEC Debbie Schäfer says vandalism and burglary plagues these learning institutions and has serious consequences on their budget. I

t comes as schools have closed for the year and re-opens in the second week of January.
