The eight suspended VIP police protection unit members have been granted R10 000 bail each.

The Randburg Magistrate’s Court heard that it would be a travesty of justice should the accused be denied bail.

The magistrate was also scathing of the State’s case, saying that the matter was prematurely placed on the court roll, and that the case is weak at this stage.

The officers were caught on camera beating three civilians on a Gauteng highway.

The identity of the person who took the video is still unknown.

The case has been postponed to September 27th.
