India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed that those found guilty over the horrific train collision in the eastern state of Odisha will be severely punished.
Modi visited the scene of the crash, labelling it as painful. At least 275 people were killed and over a thousand others wounded in the collision involving three trains.
It’s still unclear what caused the collision.
A high-level inquiry into the accident has been ordered by the Commissioner of Railway Safety. However, India’s Education Minister has already blamed “technical reasons”.
Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his condolences to the Indian government.
