Three suspects have been arrested in Ottery after an apparent hit on a rival gang member.

The incident occurred near the Hypermarket precinct yesterday afternoon.

Officers found a 32-year-old male affiliated to the Mongrel gang on the scene.

He had sustained a gunshot to the back and was taken to hospital for treatment.

One suspect had attempted to evade arrest, but was soon nabbed with three firearms with the serial numbers filed off, and 21 rounds of ammunition stashed in a bag.

The three suspects are members of the Yuru Cats gang in Ottery.

They will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on charges of attempted murder, and being in the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
