Parents are still battling to place their children in a classroom.
The Western Cape Education Department is dealing with 25 000 late applications, while 1% of those that stuck to the deadline, still need to find placement.
District offices across the provinces are trying to process these late applications. MEC David Maynier says that they are working on ensuring every child’s right to education.
Meanwhile, load shedding is another challenge facing schools.
Maynier says that he will apply for more funds to determine a solution that can mitigate the impact of load shedding at the province’s 1 500 public schools.
