Former President Thabo Mbeki believes that there was a systematic attempt to collapse key South African institutions like Eskom, resulting in deliberate load shedding.
Mbeki says the systematic collapse of key institutions had been set since 2008 which was around the time he was ousted from government. He was forced to resign in September in 2008, nearly 10 months after losing to Jacob Zuma at the ANC’s elective conference in Polokwane.
His comments were made during a dialogue hosted by the Thabo Mbeki School of Public and International Relations.
He adds that the ruptures at Eskom, Transnet, SAPS, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) was all a coordinated attack on the state.
