The man arrested for allegedly being a kidnapping kingpin claims that a mechanic had committed the crimes of which he is being accused.

The Mozambican appeared in court yesterday, with the matter postponed to January 16.

Esmael Malude Ramos Nangy owns several trucks and operates a business between Mozambique and South Africa.

Nangy claims that the mechanic in his employ, had used a business vehicle registered in his name to kidnap several people.

Police in Mozambique have since arrested the mechanic.

Nangy’s lawyer, Calvin Maile, says that his client is accused of instructing his employee to carry out the kidnappings.
