South Africans are in for a dark weekend as Eskom has ramped up its load shedding to Stage 6. The embattled utility claims that the two-stage jump is due to shortage of generating capacity and emergency reserves. Stage 6 starts at midday and will continue until 5am on Monday.
This means that households and businesses will be longer without electricity. Eskom’s announcement coincides with Black Friday – where intense trading is expected between businesses and consumers.
