Almost a thousand people have been left homeless after a fire tore through the devastating informal settlement near Strand.

An aid organization says 200 shacks were destroyed in Wednesday night’s blaze.

Gift of the Givers teams are still assessing the situation as they prepare to provide relief by distributing hots meals, bottled water, blankets, mattresses and baby care packs.
