Alleged Umrah swindler, Shahied Davids remains in police custody after making a brief appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates Court this morning. He is due back in court on Friday for a formal bail application. arrested for the charge of theft under false pretenses.
He was nabbed on Sunday at Cape Town International Airports, after arriving from Saudi Arabia. Last year, a group of prospective pilgrims were left stranded after booking their Umrah with Davids.
At the time he claimed that there was an issue with his ticketing supplier. He also promised that the group would be reimbursed at the end of this month.
