At least 23 communities on the Cape Flats will be impacted by maintenance carried out on the bulk water network this weekend.
Some will experience low water pressure which at times may become a ‘trickle flow’.
At least three communities will be without water. They are Pelican Heights, Peacock Close and Schaapkraal. Standpipes and water tankers will be deployed to these areas to provide water for essential use.
The 75-hour water maintenance will see the massive replacement of valves and the repairing of leaks. It will be from midnight on Friday until the early hours of the morning on Monday.
Mayoral member for Water and Sanitation Councillor Zahid Badroodien believes that this project will help them better understand the water network.
