An executive member of the taxi association CATA has been killed in a suspected hit in Cape Town.
Mongi Titi was gunned down at the Nyanga taxi rank on Wednesday, 16th April 2025.
The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) in the Western Cape has expressed shock at his untimely death saying it’s a devastating loss to the organisation and industry at large.
It has remembered Titi as a committed leader who played a significant role in ongoing efforts to build a more unified, safe, and professional taxi sector in the province.
Santaco has called for calm and restraint across all taxi ranks and regions, adding that violence must not be met with violence. It has also encouraged anyone with information on this heinous crime to come forward and assist law enforcement authorities.
