A SAPS investigating officer has requested that the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court not grant a businessman accused of rape, statutory rape, and sexually grooming minors to be granted bail.

Captain Edger Swart believes that the 33-year-old businessman could be a flight risk. During yesterday’s bail hearing, the court heard that the accused has businesses operating in Vanderbijlpark, and has secured another business entity.

Testifying in court, Swart said the businessman allegedly raped two minors, an adult female, and sexually groomed two minor girls known to him.

Swart took on the investigation after one of the victim’s mothers approached him complaining that the accused was sending her daughter pornographic material.
