The matter of challenging the City of Cape Town’s minibus taxi impoundments in court remains on the table.

In a meeting the taxi council, Santaco resolved that the issue should still be explored.

It has also requested the postponement of today’s Minibus Taxi Task Team meeting that was supposed to deal with the issue of impoundments. The meeting would have kicked-off the 14 days set aside to reach an understanding on a list of major offences that are impoundable.

Santaco indicates that it needs time for its leadership to engage with its members as to what precisely was agreed upon with the City of Cape Town and Western Cape government. The agreement paved the way for an end to the disruptive taxi strike.
