South Africa has sent nearly 1 500 soldiers to Mozambique as that country battles insurgency.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has notified the joint heads of Parliament of this move.
The South African National Defence Force members have been in Cabo Delgado province for nearly two weeks.
Their deployment is expected to conclude on October 15, 2021.
It will cost the country nearly R 1 billion.
Last month, SADC nations resolved to send troops to fight insurgents in the oil-rich Cabo Delgado region.
The unrest has claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people while an estimated 800,000 people have been displaced.
