The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has warned EFF President Julius Malema to either retract some of the statements made during the party’s Western Cape provincial elective conference last month, or be slammed with legal action.
It follows the commission receiving numerous complaints from members of the public, claiming that Malema made a series of threatening statements against white people.
In video recordings, Malema can be heard saying that South Africans should never be scared to kill, and that a revolution demands that at some point there must be killing because killing is part of a revolutionary act.
Malema has been given 10 days to retract some of his sentiments.
The SAHRC has called on Malema to refrain from promoting hatred and violence on any grounds.
