The SPAR Cape Town Ramadaan and Lifestyle Expo continues to break new grounds, having hosted more than
22 000 patrons over the weekend of 3–5 March 2023.

The Expo, now in its eleventh year, was hosted at the Old Mutual Sports Grounds in Pinelands. Organised by Radio
786, the cultural event is a community orientated endeavour, raising funds for community projects in broadcasting
as well as the Sherwood Park Special Care Centre.

The Centre caters for Cape Flats children suffering from mental health disorders such as cerebral palsy and autism.
The organisation is on a noble quest to raise funds to build a R 8 million facility that accommodates the increasing
demands being placed on the Centre. As an NPO, the SPAR Cape Town Ramadaan and Lifestyle Expo is proud to
donate R100 000 to this cause. We also call on the broader business community help the Sherwood Park Special
Care Centre to reach its goal.

The SPAR Cape Town Ramadaan and Lifestyle Expo is truly an expression of the best of what Cape Town has to
offer. The event was staged on 20 000 square meters grounds, and occupied 4 000 parking bays. The Expo created
4 000 employment opportunities – from security, utilities, suppliers, food, and events services. This, we believe,
comes at a critical time when South Africa battles an economic downturn.

The delicious variety of foods, live entertainment, bargains, and the spirit of Ramadaan were on display to be
enjoyed by all. While the weather reminded us why the Mother City retains the title of Cape of Storms, it did not
deter a buoyant community from coming out in their droves, highlighting the resilience of a community basking
in their culture.
