The Black Sea grain deal has ended. But Russia has left the door open for it to be reinstated if Moscow’s demands are met.

Russia has taken issue that the facilitation of shipments of their food and fertilizer have not been fulfilled under the deal. The Kremlin also says the West has blocked the export of ammonia in violation of past deals. Ammonia is a core component of fertilizer.

However, Ukraine has managed to export some 32 million metric tons of grain and other food to the world. Over half of that is to developing countries.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that he would hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over the matter, before his anticipated visit to Turkey next month.
