The South African Weather Service has issued a Level 8 warning for damaging winds and heavy downpours.
The cold front has already made landfall in parts of the Western Cape. North-westerly winds reaching up to 120 km/hour are expected to hit the City of Cape Town, Drakenstein, Stellenbosch, Overstrand and the Theewaterskloof municipalities this morning.
The weather service also alerted residents that while a cold front is expected to leave parts of the country by Monday, another is approaching the Western Cape on Tuesday.
The service says Tuesday morning will be the coldest morning of 2024 so far, with many localities over the interior of the country expected to drop well below freezing.
Western Cape Disaster Management teams are on standby.
