Cyril Ramaphosa has been sworn in as South Africa’s fifth democratic president. He will serve his second term as head of state.
The path to this inauguration was, however, not a smooth one.
The outcomes of the coalition talks have angered South Africans, who found that these talks have violated the ideology they associated with the ANC.
Nevertheless, a parliament has been formed, and now South Africans await the announcement of cabinet appointments.
In his inauguration speech, President Ramaphosa sought to create an image of a unified country.
