Pretoria High School for Girl’s principal, Philipa Erasmus, has been suspended for three months amid the latest revelations of alleged racism at the school.

Erasmus has been barred from communicating with learners’ parents and educators.

Her suspension comes after reports of racism in which 12 learners were allegedly linked to a “whites-only” WhatsApp group chat, which featured racist comments and complaints about black learners, including micro-aggressions.

Gauteng Education Department MEC, Matome Chiloane oversaw the disciplinary action. During the hearing, members of the Economic Freedom Fighters protested outside the school.

One of the deputy principals at the school have been appointed as acting principal.
