A young woman who organised the 2016 murder of her family at their North West home has been sentenced to four life terms in jail.

The Pretoria High Court handed down the sentence to 22-year-old Onthantile Sebati and her two accomplices. Sebati was a teenager when she conspired to kill her father, mother, 19-year-old pregnant sister, and six-year-old brother.

The crime took place on the evening of December 6th. She pretended to dispose of water, but in fact opened the gate for her accomplices and handed Kagiso Mokone her father’s car keys. She had also earlier given the pair her father’s gun.

The state prosecutor proved that she paid their accomplices R50,000 each for the crime. In December 2021 Sebati turned herself into the police and confessed to the crime, leading to the arrest of the two.

Sebati was found guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances, theft, and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
