South Africa is teetering on a total electricity grid collapse.

Energy expert, Tshepo Kgadima warns that the collapse is imminent and that it’s no laughing matter. He says it poses a great risk to safety as Eskom imposes higher stages of outages. He explains that there will be a surge in equipment failures due to an increase from vandalism and theft of electricity infrastructure.

Kgadima pointed to the incident at Sibanye Sibanye-Stillwater’s Cooke operations. Workers were temporarily stuck underground after power lines collapsed as a result of criminality.

The mess at Eskom has blamed at the doors of the ANC- led government.

South Africa has been locked in a cycle of load shedding which Eskom alleges is due to the breakdown of generation units.
