Police officers want proper compensation for their family members if they are killed while on duty.
The Police and Prison Civil Rights Union (Popcru) spokesperson, Richard Mamabolo, says that a danger insurance will help cover their families’ needs.
At the moment, officers’ families are paid out R 250 000, which is not enough to put their children through school.
Popcru’s call comes after two Boksburg police officers were attacked by three gunmen last week.
The union wants to allay officers’ fears amid the ongoing police killings.
