The Philippi police station is failing the horticultural area in the precinct.

Ward Councillor Elton-Enrique Jansen says that this is evident in farmers having to take their own measures to protect themselves and their property.

He was speaking after two people died when they were attacked by dogs on a farm in Philippi this weekend.

But Jansen has questioned why the victims were on the property at 3am.

The nearby community has since retaliated, targeting the farmer’s property.

But Jansen says that the police is failing to even intervene on this matter.
