People need to become aware of what they’re eating, and how much sugar is hidden in the food they consume. This is the advice from Clinical dietician Katy Begg.
She says that even condiments like tomato and sweet chili sauces have high sugar content. Begg says that cutting down on sugar in take may be difficult, but it should be done gradually.
This can be done through conscious food consumption, and cutting down on things like fizzy drinks. She was speaking as South Africa has a growing number of people diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.
Begg stresses that the addiction to sugar may begin as early as childhood.
