A Panorama family is mourning the loss of 72-year-old Hadj Husain Mukadam, who likely died after being gagged and bound for several hours during a home invasion.
The Cape Argus reported that three unknown men broke into Mukadam’s home early on Tuesday morning. Mukadam’s wife was also tied up, but survived. His son, Mustafa, described the harrowing incident, noting the suspects entered through an unsecured backyard area.
Despite his father’s paraplegic condition, Mustafa believes his father’s struggle saved the family. His father had sustained several bruises after being bound and gagged for at least six hours.
The suspects made off with the family’s TV and TV box. The community gathered for Mukadam’s funeral yesterday, with local officials pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice.
