Ostrich Meat Balls

INGREDIENTS 

  • 1 medium onion
  • 500g ostrich mince
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1tsp ground Dhanya
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • ½ tsp ground fennel
  • 1 ½ tsp salt (medium grain)
  • 1 tbsp. garlic & ginger paste
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley
  • 25g butter

METHOD

1. Pre-heat oven to 180℃.

2. In a mixing bowl ,add in your minced ostrich meat ,add Diced onion and then add in the egg, ground cumin, dhanya powder , turmeric, chilli powder, salt, garlic & ginger paste, parsley, ground cumin.

3. Melt the 25 g of butter and add into the mixing bowl.

4. Once all the ingredients are together, mix them by hand until everything is properly incorporated then cover the bowl with a cloth and set it aside for 5 minutes to rest

5. While your mixture is resting line a baking dish with foil and brush it with some olive oil (to prevent sticking).

6. Once your mixture has rested roll out round balls with your hands about 2cm in diameter and place onto the baking dish (you should get 22-24 balls out of this one recipe).

7. Once all the meat balls are on the baking dish drizzle some extra olive oil over them, then place the baking dish into the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

8. Bake until golden brown. Once they are done,let them rest for a minute then serve.

9. Serving suggestion would be on pita bread or as spaghetti and meat balls.
