One person has died after a fire gutted through the Imizamo Yethu informal settlement in Hout Bay last night, into the early hours of this morning.

At least 100 structures have been destroyed leaving 400 people displaced. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The scene has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
