Swimmer Tatjana Schoenmaker has bagged gold for South Africa and smashed the world record for the women’s 200m breaststroke at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The 24-year-old touched the wall 97 seconds ahead of America’s Lily King. She did it in 2minutes 18.95seconds carving off 16 seconds of the world record time.
Schoenmaker who won silver earlier this week in the 100m breaststroke is now only the second female swimmer in South Africa’s history to win a gold medal at the Olympics.
