It has been suggested that those who attempted to take a stand against racism at Brackenfell High School were suppressed. Speaking to Radio 786 a former learner Ofentse Maybe explains that the school as a whole would aggressively respond to those raising issues of discrimination and even call them names. They would also be accused of intimidating the teacher. Maybe says that the school needs to establish transformation systems from sports, to staff and culture in order to deal with the systemic issues of racism.
Meanwhile a mass anti-racism protest led by the EFF is expected to hit the streets of Brackenfell later this morning. They will be protesting outside the school. Police are setting up a perimeter around the school and are implementing crowd management to contain any potential “threat”.
