Radio 786 held a broadcast with the community of Bo-Kaap in front the world-famous flag Mural which is reported to be the largest on the globe.
The broadcast featured guests from the Bo-kaap who highlighted their solidarity for Palestine and how their resistance against gentrification resonates with the resistance against apartheid and colonialism in Palestine.
The community came out in their numbers to bear witness to the historic broadcast, with some residents providing drinks and savouries for the guests, crew and audience.
The broadcast ended when Abdul-Aleem Gamza finished his current leg in his 750km run to raise funds for Gaza.
Bo-kaap has been a hive for acts of Palestinian solidarity which has only intensified during the gentrification of the area in recent years by the DA-led Western Cape government.
