The complaints about noisy generators are going to the wrong department in the City of Cape Town.
This is what a local business owner and resident found, when she complained about the loud noise coming from several generators near a residential area.
Mellony Morelli says that they’ve complained to their neighbours and the City, with little being done to address the problem.
She’s also complained of the fumes emanating from the generators, which is affecting the air quality in her area, while the noise is frustrating the elderly.
Morelli is representative and homeowner of Arum Adamar Body Corporate Bloubergrant.
Meanwhile, the Senior Mechanical Engineer at City Health Shannon Maree, has urged residents to first try to resolve these issues themselves, and to be considerate of their neighbours.
He says that the cost of ensuring that generators don’t disrupt the community will have to be borne by the user.
