The South African political landscape has become saturated with parties vying for votes in the upcoming local government elections.
This has been further complicated by the number of independent candidates that have also vowed to make a difference.
Daily Maverick journalist, Rebecca Davis says that voters can choose parties or candidates that have homed in on specific issues, rather than promising a broad spectrum of services.
However as local government polls are aimed at electing public servants who will ensure that communities have access to the basic services, niche parties may not prove as successful.
