Radio 786 has done the first broadcast on a plot that would in future serve as Masjidul Nur in Riviersonderend. It will serve as a centre for communal prayer, congregation, and community activities. The plot was recently purchased by the Masjidul Nur foundation which hosted a Thikr (devotional recitals) jointly with members of the Muslim community from Cape Town.

The establishment of a Masjid (Islamic place of worship) to cater for the needs of travellers and the local Islamic community has been a plan in the making for several years. The melodious recitation of thikr on the airwaves of Radio 786 highlighted the campaign to raise funds to build the Masjid and connect Muslims of the Cape with the outlying Muslim community of Riviersonderend.
