South Africa’s new minimum wage is R23.19 per hour for ordinary work.
Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi made the announcement saying the new rate will come into effect on March 1st. This will also see the salary of domestic workers increase from 19.09 an hour to R23 per hour.
The recent adjustments come following a proposal by the National Minimum Wage Commission to increase domestic worker salaries to 100 percent of the National Minimum Wage.
