A Vietnamese national has been arrested for being in the possession of about 60 kilograms of lion claws, teeth, and other wildlife items in Limpopo.
It follows a four-month investigation into wildlife trafficking. Police also raided a Vietnamese-owned farm near Bela-Bela and two storage units in Limpopo. Officials seized 4.2 kilograms of lions’ teeth, 680 grams of lion claws, and more than 60 kilograms of processed animal products believed to be lion gelatin and an illegal firearm.
The suspect appeared in court on Friday. The case has been postponed until the 20th of August to ensure a translator can be present.
