Hopes of having the National State of Disaster terminated have been dashed.
The Cooperative Governance Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has extended it for another month to allow government and organs of state enough time to come up with new legislation to manage the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic without the state of disaster.
However earlier this month the Health Department indicated that it was ready to propose measures to deal with the pandemic. The health sector has pushed for an end to several restrictions including the wearing of masks outside as well as the sanitisation of institutions. It cites the levels of natural immunity and vaccination.
