Popular take-out chain, Nandos, has ended its sponsorship of Gareth Cliff’s Burning Platform programme.

It follows a panel he hosted in which he claimed that racism is not as big a problem as service delivery. Guests included community activist, Mudzuli Rakhivhane and DA leader John Steenhuisen.

The latter appeared almost delighted as Cliff spoke over Rakhivane as she tried to explain the lived experience of black people in South Africa. Cliff also said that no one cares about her experience as a black woman in this country.

The video had since been met with outrage, with many calling for a boycott of Nandos for sponsoring the programme. The company released a statement today, confirming that they have terminated their five-year contract with Cliff.
