A 29-year-old mother has been shot and killed in Bonteheuwel.

Her body was found in Citrus Street just after nine o’clock last night. Bonteheuwel ward councillor, Angus McKenzie says that the woman was crossing the street with her 5-year-old child when she was allegedly caught in gang crossfire.

Police spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk, says that the woman had sustained a gunshot wound to the head, and died on the scene.

The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
