The Western Cape High Court has heard a sinister plot, allegedly by SAPS to murder alleged underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack. The revelation was made by co-accused, Janick Adonis, yesterday when he submitted a plea explanation disputing all the State’s evidence.
It comes at a time when Modack and his co-accused returned to court for the trial linked to the murder of the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) detective, Charl Kinnear. As the court proceedings began, Adonis claimed that the grenade attack on Kinnear’ home was fake.
He further claimed that Kinnear and former AGU boss Andre Lincoln approached him while in custody to help stage an attack on Kinnear. Adonis says he was told that after the staged attack, police planned to confront Modack and then kill him and create the impression that he was trying to resist arrest. This is a developing story.
