The uMkhonto weSizwe party has withdrawn John Hlophe’s nomination to the Judicial Service Commission.

This follows a Western Cape High Court ruling preventing Hlophe from serving on the JSC.

The court’s decision came after the DA and Freedom Under Law argued Hlophe’s impeachment as Judge President disqualifies him.

Additionally, the Johannesburg High Court dismissed the MK Party’s bid to delay the JSC sitting. The MK Party insists Hlophe’s parliamentary eligibility should extend to the JSC.

In a statement, the party said that it would not allow Hlophe’s name to associated or used to legitimize an improperly constituted Judicial Service Commission.
