A learner has died in a collision between a taxi and another car in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain. The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

Spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk says that the taxi was transporting 24 learners this morning from various schools in Mitchells Plain when it collided with the BMW on the corner of AZ Berman Drive and Marguerite Street.

He says that a boy, believed to be between the ages of 8 and 10, was taken to hospital after sustaining serious injuries. He later died in hospital.

Several other children were either treated on the scene or taken to hospital. No arrests have yet been made.
