The body of a 70-year-old man has been found on Chapmans Peak.
Gus Thompson, who suffered from Alzheimer’s went missing on July 14th after leaving his care home near Lake Michelle.
Wilderness Search and Rescue helped locate the pensioner’s body.
The Western Cape Department of Health hoisted four technical rescuers via helicopter down to the scene where Thompson’s body was airlifted and handed over to the police.
The cause of death was hypothermia.
The family says Chapmans Peak was Thompson’s favourite place and he frequented it often before his health declined.
