The prevalence of informal settlements along Baden Powell Drive and the N2 are affecting police’s ability to nab criminals.
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith says that while the criminals are not residents of these settlements, they take advantage of the densely populated areas.
Smith was speaking as there has been a spike in the number of incidents in which motorists are targeted. This as concrete and rubbish are being placed on the N2.
Criminals target motorists who stop their vehicles to avoid hitting these obstructions. These acts are being carried out during midnight and 4am.
