Policing union, Sapu is confident that convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester will be recaptured.

Sapu spokesperson Lesiba Thobakgale say the police’s thorough investigation led to his arrest and conviction and will again.

It emerged that Bester dubbed the Facebook rapist escaped from the Mangaung Prison in the Free State.

It has been confirmed that the body found in his cell which burnt in May last year was not that of his. The body has yet to be identified.

Bester was serving a life sentence.

Thobakgale has called for accountability from the Department of Correctional Services and says it must take back prisons which are run by private security companies like G4S. Mangaung Prison is managed by G4S.
